Basic Refrigerator Pickle Brine

Mix and bring to a boil:

  • 2 cups vinegar
  • 2 cups water
  • Scant 1 cup sugar
  • 1 Tb sea salt
  • 1 dried red pepper (optional)

Let cool in pot until room temperature.

Pour over prepared veggies.

Once completely cool, pack in a glass jar.

Don’t use your fingers to remove refrigerator pickles!

Makes enough to pour over vegetables in a half gallon jar.  Stores for weeks and even longer, in the fridge
